Originally from Yorkshire I moved to Shropshire in 2002. Until 2015 I worked overseas as a humanitarian aid worker. I fell in love with painting in 2020 and now paint every day. I’m particularly interested in exploring abstracted, and semi-abstracted, landscapes, and developing atmosphere and texture through multiple layers and mark making.

I have exhibited in a number of group and solo shows,  and my painting ‘The Longing Mountain’ won the Belle Vue Arts Festival/Soden Collection competition 2021. My work is in private collections internationally, in over twelve countries, and throughout the UK.

‘We tend to think of landscapes as affecting us most strongly when we are in them or on them, when they offer us the primary sensations of touch and sight. But there are also the landscapes we bear with us in absentia, those places that live on in memory long after they have withdrawn in actuality, and such places - retreated to most often when we are most remote from them – are among the most important landscapes we possess.’ Robert Macfarlane, The Old Ways: A Journey on Foot
